Prama was fortunate to be nominated by our NHS colleagues for an award at the Dorset Care Association Annual Award evening on 8 May 2026 in the best Partner Organisation category.
Our NHS colleagues had nominated Prama for its work on supporting family carers whose spouse/relative is being discharged from hospital or when the carer themselves has had a stay in hospital. Since November 2024 Prama has supported 77 carers through the scheme: It is good for my well-being, it eases my mind, it is good to have someone to talk to in my hour of need.
In response to the specific needs of carers of people who have experienced strokes we have also developed a pilot Information Course involving five sessions focusing on different aspects of the caring role, with good results: Very informative. Have already been able to follow through on some of the things mentioned. All this support helps carers practically and with their mental well-being.
We are proud of receiving an award for Best Partner Organisation, effective partnership work is central to what we are seeking to achieve. Prama cannot do everything by itself, we must share our skills and capacity with other organisations, together we are stronger and can help more carers and older adults in need.
