When you’re caring for someone, it is really important to ensure that you look after yourself too. Caring can be very rewarding, but without the right support it can have a negative impact on your health, career, finances and relationships. This year you may have found that your caring role has become more challenging, or you may have taken on new caring responsibilities.
At PramaLife, we offer support services that are designed to ease the challenges of caregiving and ensure carers feel valued and supported.
Our support Groups can help with
Emotional Support:
Offering a safe space for carers to express their feelings and challenges. Sharing experiences with others in similar situations can reduce feelings of isolation and stress.
Information and Resources:
Carers can access information about dementia, care strategies, and local services, empowering them with knowledge that can help them in their journey as a carer.
Practical Advice:
The groups often feature discussions on practical aspects of caregiving, such as managing daily tasks, navigating healthcare systems, and planning for future care needs.
Respite and Relaxation:
Carer support groups also focus on the well-being of the carers themselves. They provide opportunities for relaxation and respite, which are essential for maintaining their own health and preventing burnout.
Social Connections:
These groups facilitate social connections among carers, helping them build a network of support. Friendships formed in these groups can provide ongoing emotional and practical support outside of the scheduled meetings.
FOCUS Carers Support Scheme
Focus Befriending and Mentoring can join you up with someone to regularly talk to as a befriender (phone or face-to-face), or with a mentor who is an experienced carer themselves. Click below to find out more.
Carers Support Groups
Many carers tell us that they feel isolated and/or lonely and that being valued as an individual as well as a carer is really important to them.
Prama’s monthly support groups provide a supportive face-to-face environment where carers can share experiences, receive emotional support, and access valuable resources. Click here to find out more about groups we run near you. (link to community group sub areas).
